The rumor is the Talega Golf Course's greens are actually ice painted green normally explained as "Greens of Ice". The rumor is half true, there are not made out of ice, but they might be some of the quickest greens around. Just about every green has multiple tiers and not one is flat. 

Talega Golf Club is one of Southern California's nicest public courses. The overall conditions and customer service are to be expected of a course of this quality. You are normally greeted in the parking lot, they pick you up at your parked car right in the cart you will be using. 

The carts come stocked with small tees, two towels, side cooler with ice, and high tech GPS map with distances. On a course like this, having the GPS in the cart makes a huge difference.

On a few holes with out the GPS, you are left clueless as to where the fairway is. You are left looking at distance tree tops and/or hills, unable to see where exactly you should aim.  On the holes that you can see, like the 7th hole at Talega seen above, you can use the cart GPS to see if the sand bunker on the right, is reachable or not.

Not only does the cart GPS give you a detailed map, but provides distances to pin and from cart to tee so you can see how long your drive was. It will even show other golf carts in front of you, so on the 18th hole (seen above) you will know if you can tee off with out hitting up on the players in front of you.

Even though driving from hole to hole can be a long trip, at Talega they have great sign placement, and the cart GPS will even give you tips to get to the next hole. Every detail was thought out, even the tunnels were well kept and well designed.

Lining most of the holes are beautiful homes that have amazing views of the tees, fairways or greens. Talega real estate is very sought after, and it is easy to see why.

They have recently (April '06), added more high quality sand in the bunkers, and the greens were in great condition.
