Having played many of these courses, I hope to help you see why they are so highly regarded. Knowing the ins and outs I can help you see what courses are right for you. Whether you like narrows fairways or prefer them wide open, the vast differences in the SoCal courses have you covered. Some mountain course even offer amazing angulations forcing you to hit from cliff to cliff or mountain to mountain. 
There have been many new golf courses built over the years and many have been making major changes over time. Knowing that a golf course is making changes can affect your travel plans, whether they are shutting down for a remodel or just downsizing the course size for home sites can drastically change where you want to play.
