Cedar Hills Golf Club

Still a relatively young course in Utah, Cedar Hills Golf Club is becoming a corner stone out of the better courses in the Salt Lake surrounding areas. If you are looking for mountain views, drastic drop off's and water hazards, this might be the course for you.

The cart and a bucket of balls for the driving range are not included with the greens fee, but for under $50.00 you can get them both. That is the main reason why we gave them 5 stars for their "Greens Fee Rating", it's a great deal for this course. The Cedar Hills Golf Course was designed by world renouned golf course architects Graves & Pascuzzo.

Right away you are taken away by the view as you come to the first tee. The drop from the 1st tee box to fairway is 170 feet basically straight down. Not many courses have the huge drop similar to this, one that come to mind is 7th hole at Coyote Hills Golf Course. Not only are holes with a huge drop off from the tee box rememberable, but there can be the most fun to play. ;)

The 10th green at Cedar Hills Golf Club

Above is a great example of beauty of Cedar Hills course, showing the difficult water hazard interlaced through out the 10th hole. The 487 yard par 5, 10th hole can force you to lay up because of the over all size of the gap between fairway and green not to mention the running water dividing the way. If you get lucky you can bounce of the rocks on to the green, but we don't incourage trying it that way !

Now above on the top is a great photo of the 18th hole from the tee box. You can click on the image for a larger desktop size or see our other Cedar Hills golf wallpapers. Directly below that image on the left is another shot of the 18th showing the sign and map of the hole. Off in the distance you can see the clubhouse, or what is currently being used as the clubhouse. They are using temporary buildings for their clubhouse and pro shop. The building are only temporary and Cedar Hills has plans to build in the future.

The image to the right is the 7th tee box, but that photo was actually taken form the "White Tees", if we took the photo from the "Gold" or "Black Tees", you would only see is the big tree on the right in the photo. See, from the back tees it is a completely blind shot, you must hit over the water, tree, and ruff to reach the fairway.

Flowers at Cedar Hills Golf CLub in Utah Cedar Hills Golf Course in Utah

The mountain views are amazing all through the course, very similar to the views at South Mountain Golf Course which is just a few minutes drive away. Beyond the views and great conditions the mountain and desert wild flowers are just stunning. The flowers almost seem like they couldn't even be real, such a great combinations of colors. These flowers pictured above are through out the course but were especialy brilliant at the 13th tee box, which is a par 4 right on the mountain side.

There were many things that impressed us about this golf course but we were also disappointed with quite a few things at Cedar Hills. Most of the tee boxes were in good condition but a lot of them were not so good, pretty torn up. The type of sand used in the bunkers was full fo medium to large rocks in it, very course in tough on your clubs. But the biggest disappointment is the fact that they still have the temporary building up for the clubhouse and pro-shop.

But don't worry, once the new buildings are buildt, we will be re-reviewing the course to keep you our visitors up to date.
