They spared no expense with the clubhouse and restaurant. There is even a radio station inside the clubhouse.

Thanksgiving Point is a Johnny Miller signature course right in Lehi, Utah. Their pro-shop is well stocked, but quite pricey. Make sure to bring what you need like extra balls, tees, gloves, etc. so you don’t get stuck.

After you finish in the pro-shop you can get a bucket of balls and head out to the driving range. The range at Thanksgiving Point is well laid out to have amazing mountain views. The grass is well maintained with club cleaners right near by to make it very easy to take care of your clubs.

Once at the first tee things start to click, that this isn’t going to be easy. We rate courses from the Blue Tees? or Standard Tees?, and Thanksgiving Point has two sets of tee boxes behind their blue tees. They have Gold and Black. The black tees are over 7,700 yards, making it longer than Jacks Black? at Los Serranos Country Club the longest course in California.

Thanksgiving Point Views Thanksgiving Point Gardens

This course is quite difficult with it’s narrow fairways, huge and well placed hazards. The sharp dog-legs? make it tuff unless to can play a draw, or fade golf shot. The fact that it’s hard to judge distances since they don’t provide a GPS or course map/guide makes it very tuff too. They have sprinklers marked with the middle of the greens, but it seems that there are not enough of them.

Thanksgiving Point offers a course map for a charge, but we really think they should provide it for free upon request. That way they impress their customers and provide help for them along the way.

Thanksgiving Point Par 3 Thanksgiving Point clubhouse

The overall conditions were fantastic, the tee boxes were well kept, fairways nearly perfect, and the greens were also in near perfect condition. The 3rd hole has to have on of the biggest sand trap that we have ever encountered.

But they do have a few things we were disappointed in, like small sprinklers right in the greens so watch out when putting, and quality of their sand. The bunkers or Beaches? were filled with very course hard sand with fairly big pebbles in it. It almost seemed like local sand they reused, the sand traps chew up your clubs. So you must remember to play your shot like a chip rather than a regular open faced sand duff shot?.

From the roads getting there is a little confusing but they do have a few signs to help guide you in the right direction. Basically on the cliffs of a mountain this public course has spectacular views of snow capped mountains, and surrounding Salt Lake City area.

The clubhouse and restaurant are well designed so you can get in and out and back on the course quickly. They normally have a discount rack of golf clothing and accessories which make it very easy to get something on sale. If you need any equipment they have a good inventory to choose from.

It’s quite amusing how when you are entering the clubhouse parking lot you think you’re parking at a restaurant. Because it’s impossible to see any part of the golf course since it is completely on the side of the mountain. Once in the pro-shop you can see a few holes, and the practice putting green.

Now in our experiences public golf course rarely have driving ranges that at memorable. But at South Mountain Golf Course you will soon forget other driving ranges you have used. When you hit balls it will be tuff for you to follow the ball, since you find yourself staring off into the distance at the snow capped mountains and other scenic views.

The drive from the clubhouse to the driving range and 1st tee is quite long; the course is pretty spread out overall, but is very easy to find your way around. There is nothing more frustrating than finishing a hole and not knowing where to go to next, or finding yourself at the wrong hole. South Mountain is easy to navigate through you will have no problems getting hole to hole.

Each hole at South Mountain is uniquely named; our favorite was Pipe Dream? which is a very tuff par 3. They were very creative the holes some are quite comical. One is even called Cross Winds?, which gives you a huge hind at to what to look out for on that hole. ;)

Overall South Mountain was one of our favorite courses in the Salt Lake City area of Utah, but there were a few things that we didn’t like about the course. First thing was the quality of their sand, very course and hard, with fairly large pebbles. It is very tuff to get out of with a standard open club face shot, and will chew up your clubs. The second thing was the fact they don’t have a cart GPS map offer a course guide or map. But they do offer a distance GPS that you can rent for your round, it doesn’t give you a map, but it does give you distances.

Thanksgiving Point Utah has amazing views. On a day like photographed above you can see the unbelievable clouds formations and drastic color differences from green grass, to mountains, and blue skyscrapers.

South Mountain Utah Golf Wallpapers

From all of our photos we have taken at South Mountain we put these together for everyone to be able to have for their desktop. South Mountain Golf Course in Draper Utah has amazing views and conditions some of these are absolutely breath taking photos.

Our favorite photos are constantly changing as we are adding new ones so make sure to check back.

It was hard to pick just 3 photos to start, above was our Ty Favorite. The photo makes it look like there is a hugh body of water to the right in the distance, but its just the hugh mountain shadow. 😉

You can just make out the flags in both of the above photos, allowing you to see the full scale of difficulty head. The par 3 on the right is a tough number, with a false front it makes it very hard to judge the distance.

Next time your planning your golf vacation to Salt Lake area of Utah, Draper is a very close, so make sure to include this course in your trip.

Bountiful Ridge Golf Wallpapers

Outside Salt Lake City Utah there are many courses to choose from, one that needs to be included in your trip is Bountiful Ridge Golf Course in none other than Bountiful, Utah. We have gotten lucky with the weather the last few times we have played and reviewed this course.

Below is a photo showing a rain cloud far in the distance with the sun behind it lighting it up. It never really rained that day on the course, just beautiful views and cloud formations.

The fairways and mainly the ruff are cut pretty thick, making it really hard to find your ball. While looking a few times we managed to take a bunch of quality photos.

The cart and a bucket of balls for the driving range are not included with the greens fee, but for under $50.00 you can get them both. That is the main reason why we gave them 5 stars for their Greens Fee Rating, its a great deal for this course. The Cedar Hills Golf Course was designed by world renowned golf course architects Graves Pascuzzo.

Right away you are taken away by the view as you come to the first tee. The drop from the 1st tee box to fairway is 170 feet basically straight down. Not many courses have the huge drop similar to this, one that come to mind is 7th hole at Coyote Hills Golf Course. Not only are holes with a huge drop off from the tee box rememberable, but there can be the most fun to play. ;)

Above is a great example of beauty of Cedar Hills course, showing the difficult water hazard interlaced through out the 10th hole. The 487 yard par 5, 10th hole can force you to lay up because of the over all size of the gap between fairway and green not to mention the running water dividing the way. If you get lucky you can bounce of the rocks on to the green, but we don’t encourage trying it that way !

Now above on the top is a great photo of the 18th hole from the tee box. You can click on the image for a larger desktop size or see our other Cedar Hills golf wallpapers. Directly below that image on the left is another shot of the 18th showing the sign and map of the hole. Off in the distance you can see the clubhouse, or what is currently being used as the clubhouse. They are using temporary buildings for their clubhouse and pro shop. The building are only temporary and Cedar Hills has plans to build in the future.

The image to the right is the 7th tee box, but that photo was actually taken form the White Tees, if we took the photo from the Gold or Black Tees, you would only see is the big tree on the right in the photo. See, from the back tees it is a completely blind shot, you must hit over the water, tree, and ruff to reach the fairway.

The mountain views are amazing all through the course, very similar to the views at South Mountain Golf Course which is just a few minutes drive away. Beyond the views and great conditions the mountain and desert wild flowers are just stunning. The flowers almost seem like they couldn’t even be real, such a great combinations of colors. These flowers pictured above are through out the course but were especially brilliant at the 13th tee box, which is a par 4 right on the mountain side.

There were many things that impressed us about this golf course but we were also disappointed with quite a few things at Cedar Hills. Most of the tee boxes were in good condition but a lot of them were not so good, pretty torn up. The type of sand used in the bunkers was full for medium to large rocks in it, very course in tough on your clubs. But the biggest disappointment is the fact that they still have the temporary building up for the clubhouse and pro-shop.

But don’t worry, once the new buildings are built, we will be re-reviewing the course to keep you our visitors up to date.

Valley View golf Wallpapers

We wanted to share some our favorite photos from Valley View Golf Course in Layton, Utah.

There were a lot of pictures we took that turned out great, but a few stood out from the bunch. Valley View is a great course for views and wildlife, in most of the bigger water hazards there were large to huge bull frogs, deer and her fawn next to tee box, and it all just makes for a wonderful golf experience.

Pictured above is the tee box of the 15th hole, over a huge water hazard to the green in the far left of the photo. From the blue tee boxes behind (not pictured) the water is in play for longer drivers.

Above is a great photo of a lone tree right in the turn of the dog leg on this fairway. The average drive will leave you just short of the turn and you are left with a lot of fairway to work with still before the green.

Above you can see the 18th green of Valley View golf course, seems like the green is on a cliffside, well it basically is. The mountan views behind the green are just breath taking.

From the blue tees you can see how the hole goes downhill and to the left to the green in the center of the photo above. This is a great photo showing the full experience of teeing off with those types of views at Valley View Golf Course.

Valley View Golf Course

Just a short drive from Salt Lake City airport in Utah, is a wonderful course that is an amazing deal. For the quality of the course, and the level of play, the greens fee is very low. Valley View Golf Course in Layton, is normally in wonderful condition, has great undulations and nicely secluded just over 28 miles from Salt Lake Airport up the I-15 North, exit 326 to South Ogden.

The par 5’s are quite long like the 17th hole pictured above, from the blue tees all par 5 holes are over 500 yards. The 17th is 509 yards from the blues but with a tough dog leg left. The actual turn wouldn’t be so difficult if it weren’t for the single tree at the turn’s right hand side. Even a good drive with a draw flight path for right hander, the tree is right there to help knock it down. This course grabs you from the beginning right from the first tee box you can see the lush green grass and large water hazards. As pictured below from the 1st tee box, you can’t even see the green that is about 100 yards behind the big tree by the white stake on the right side of the water. The greens are well protected by hazards and foliage through out the course, great examples are holes 2, 7, and the 15th.

Once you get your score card (pictured below) you’ll notice that it shows the 6 different pin placement sections for each green and has a basic map for each hole. It is a great reference from your pocket as you play. Before the 1st tee box, next to the practice green is a sign that tells you today’s pin placement, as seen below.

Tee position sign at Valley View golf course

Along with the scorecard each cart is fitted with a course map explaining each hole. It’s very helpful when determining whether to lay up or to try and go for the green. Being able to see each hole helps so much when it comes to club selection. You can find yourself easily misjudging the distance, because of height differences and hazard sizes.

The mountain views are breath taking, as you can see pictured above the view at the 18th green of Valley View. It seems the ball will fall off the mountain side, like a few holes at South Mountain, if you hit long on your approach shot. The 18th hole is 440 yards from the Blue tees slightly turning right, a good drive with a slight fade ball flight will leave you in perfect position to approach the green.

After everything, we found Valley View to be a great course and a great experience. The fairways, tee boxes, and greens were in great condition. The over all environment was amazing with the foliage, wildlife, water hazards, and mountain views were just stunning. Absolute deal for the money ! David L. Baker Executive Golf Course

This executive golf course in Fountain Valley, is right off Brookhurst is actually a great quick answer for a round of golf !

This is a smaller course but offers a few benefits that a standard full size golf course isn’t quite able to provide.

This course is nice a quick if you are just trying to fit in a round, and is much better that the other executive course in Costa Mesa the “Mats Course” (Back Bay Newport Beach, CA.). Every tee box is grass and it makes for a much better round of golf for you and your clubs !

As you an see above they have beautiful geese or ducks (unsure of the type) that visit the course. They are not much of a bother, we think the ducks or geese add to the experience.

David L. Baker golf course has a few very straight forward easy par threes, but it is only an executive course so it is to be expected. There are a few fairly long par fours, and their use of hazards has made a bunch of them pretty tricky.

By adding a lot of bunkers, and since the water hazards very large in comparison to the hole layout, they have made the holes that much harder.

PRO’s

CON’s

  • Did we mention bad customer service

The steep terrain and tree placement makes for a challenging course. The river bed flowing down the middle of the course would make for challenging conditions in the rainy season. Updated directional signs to show what hole are which direction is a necessity for a new golfer to this course. The tee boxes are very well maintained, greens were good to excellent condition and the fairways were just beginning to burn out from summer months with brown starting to appear.

The amount of dog legs, blind holes and blind fairways at this course exceed the most golfers expectations,
yet I was always able to find my ball. Although this course is perfect for day tournaments, I could see where a glow ball tournament could deter some people. I would like to add as a personal note this course is great if your golfing on a budget or you just want to play a quick 18 holes; the pace and price are fantastic at River View. The putting green is one of the best in Orange County.

Key Points:

  1. Cart has GPS mapping system
  2. Very thin fairways out there, so keep em straight
  3. The flag poles are all about 18 inches taller, remember that when judging distances
  4. The course can be very confusing driving from hole to hole, make sure to follow the signs
  5. Probably the best practice putting green around
